Privacy Policy
This policy describes Orbilingua’s intended privacy design. It must undergo legal review and include the final details of the responsible entity before commercial launch.
Last updated: July 25, 2026
1. Scope
This policy applies to the Orbilingua browser extension, connected app, and its synchronization and artificial intelligence services.
2. Data Orbilingua may process
- Account: Protected credentials, a user identifier, and the technical data required to maintain your session.
- Progress: Word states, cards, review results, preferences, active language, activity, and synchronization metadata.
- Requested content: Visible text, subtitles, the selected word, contextual sentence, source, and audio when you activate a feature that requires them.
- Technical data: Product version, errors, and minimal operational signals when diagnostics are enabled.
3. How information is used
Orbilingua uses this data to make content interactive, provide definitions and explanations, create cards, schedule reviews, display progress, synchronize changes, and maintain service security.
4. Local processing and connected services
Learning states and preferences may be stored locally in your browser. If you use an account and synchronization, changes are sent to the Orbilingua backend. Translation, TTS, or explanation features may send only the required excerpt to the configured service.
5. Extension permissions
To work on webpages and media players, the extension may require access to visited sites, local storage, and, when activated, tab audio capture. Orbilingua must explain these permissions in its distribution listing and allow controls to be disabled by domain.
6. Sharing and service providers
Orbilingua must not sell personal data. It may use hosting, storage, and AI providers strictly to deliver requested features. The final list of processors and their locations will be published before commercial launch.
7. Retention and deletion
Local data remains until you delete it or uninstall the product. Synchronized data must be removable through your account or a support request. Final backup-retention periods will be defined before launch.
8. Security
The current design includes PBKDF2-derived credentials, signed sessions, and separation between the extension and AI service keys. No system is infallible; controls will be reviewed before production.
9. Your choices
- Enable or disable Orbilingua by domain.
- Use local features without enabling optional services where the product allows it.
- Review, export, or delete cards and progress.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of synchronized data.
10. Accessibility
Orbilingua aims to meet WCAG 2.2 AA across its own interfaces. Accessibility feedback will be handled through the support channel listed in the official distribution.
11. Children and changes
The product is not designed to knowingly collect children’s data without the authorization required by applicable law. Material changes to this policy will be communicated within the product and dated on this page.
12. Contact
The legal entity, address, and privacy contact channel will be added before public registration opens. Until then, this document serves as a product specification and not a final legal notice.
